This is a chain letter sent to me by my grandmother... admittedly she is from a small conservative town and a bit racist in a passive fashion (thinks poorly of blacks and hispanic I know maybe others, but won't let it show when she deals with them) and it is one of my sticking points with her advice a lot of times... so it comes as no surprise she sent this to me... my only question is in regards to the end... Is Obama a Muslim Extremist?? he would have to be a convert to their ways or an extremely long term project 50 years in the making

A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality
that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.

My grandmother once sent me something similar to this. I sent her a very cordial reply in which I systematically ripped apart every single point made by the chain letter, thereby forcing her to reconsider many of the reasons she'd agreed with so many of the points. She's similarly close minded and more than a little racist, but I've been slowly working to show her that, hey, things change.

I suggest similar tactics. Now all she sends me are random clippings she gets from her geneology research. Sometimes there's a printed email from a random family member and, rarely, a $5 bill. Very rarely she'll send something more political, but I think I've made it pretty clear to her that I am not of a conservative bent, that I do not agree with most of her more racist views, and that I'm really not into the whole religion thing. She's coming around, slowly.

Obama isn't an extremist in much of anything, except being moderately left wing. he isn't a practicing muslim, and never has been (how do you have a scandal with your former pastor and be muslim?), and where in fuck does the bible say all that?

the profiling, which is in no way related to the obama smear (why can't people make actual arguments that in some way relate to their primary topic?!), has a small bit of merit. As my ex-brother-in-law from pakistan said, it does make sense to pay more attention to people from those countries, and who are obviously not a part of your culture. that said, you don't stop scanning everyone else either. it was a WHITE MALE 17-40 that pulled of the second biggest terrorist attack in the US (right here in OK no less). or our own government, depending on who you listen to, but either way the demographic is the same.

when you die, nothing happens. unless you're a muslim extremist male between the ages of 17 and 40, in which case everyone in the crowded marketplace you died in dies as well.

That said, I fucking hate shit like this, it offends every jaded sensibility I have left.

There will come a time when the united states of america needs to look at what it has become and what it's becoming, needs to look at what people believe and what people say they believe, a time when the only way to continue progressing into the future is to carve out the extremists and the racists and discard them like trash. People that are so ignorant and so hateful and so prejudiced, like the author of this letter, are part of that trash. The time will come when america has to take out the garbage or drown in it. That time is now.

The only kind of person that should not be tolerated is the kind of person that refuses to tolerate another person based on their race, heritage, or religion. Nothing else is acceptable.

America's economy is no longer the largest in the world. American culture is no longer spreading like it once was. American influence over developing countries is faltering. America's credibility with world leaders is all but gone. And America's military 'might' has been shown to be failing, as in the last ten years we have shown twice that the same tactics that defeated us in Vietnam still work today, and no developing country need fear the might of the United States any longer, we cannot effectively wage war on the scale it would be fought in. The last hope for America is cultural and political reform. We must fight the cancer that will kill us, should it continue unabated. In ten years the age of America's world leadership will have faded from memory, with new leaders taking over our former role, unless we can turn around and examine ourselves critically, and act upon what we find. But we won't. We won't do that because it would be unamerican, because we want to hate people for no reason, destroy civilizations for money, and cling to our tired greatness like a life line.
