Knights: IC-Posting Guidelines

Post by rydi »

So. We're back. New forums, new site, new everything. So that we can do this right, lets try and follow some conventions for posting so that everything is nice and orderly.

First, posting format. When you make an in-character post (IC) it should look something like this:
::Bob walks into the children's room, wearing his usual clown suit, minus the floppy shoes. A scowl is permanently etched across his face, and blood is clotted on the hatchet hanging on his back::

Hey kids!!! Is everybody ready ta have some FUN!?!

::Unslinging the axe, Bob walks up to Timmy...::
For spoken words you can highlight them in a different color, or put quotation marks as well, but it isn't absolutely necessary. For written words, you might italics them or in some other way mark them as written.
::Bob, his job done, dabs a finger into Timmy's neck... Such a wonderfully deep shade of red... And paints on the wall.::

Now, we also should go over where to post. Different types of conversations should be handled differently. Following is a list of some examples:

Cell Phone Conversations, Courier messages, Telepathy, Etc:
These should be done via PM. If you are speaking telepathically in a socal situation, and you don't want it to be seen by other posters, you can PM and carry on your other conversations (though observers might get a roll to notice you're a bit distracted).

Meetings, Social Events, Activities:
These should be posted in an appropriate Location thread. If you want to meet in a location that hasn't been listed, say a dive bar in the industrial district, write it up and post it. More locations equal happy. But please, do post in the locations when you are meeting people. Things happen IN the world, not in some pocket dimension where you have the luxury of being totally private. And it makes the game better for everyone if the game can be a shared experience.

Setting up meetings w/PC's/NPC's:
You have two options here. 1)PM the player/GM that controls the character, or 2)Speak to them in their asigned thread or their Haven thread, then set up a meeting w/them for another location. Option 1 is probably better for most PC's, though an occassional visit to their haven isn't bad either, while for NPC's you will probably have better luck w/option 2.

Dates:
Time is fluid on the threads. Linear timelines reduce creativity and they reduce the amount of interaction possible for players, especially those that haven't kept up with every single occurance on the threads. That said, make an effort to keep things within the boundaries of sense. If it is clear that two events are supposed to be happening at the same time (the 10pm on the night after court for example) then you probably should pick one, not both, to participate in.

As questions and concerns arise I will update this post, but for now I think this should do.[/quote]
