Looks like Time Warner Cable has started the process...

And AT&T may not be too far behind.

freedom. that is what the net has meant to many people. even now, with programs tracking your usage, and what you do while online, and all the damned advertisements, the internet is still in many ways more free than the real world. and now that is going to go away to. at least unless you can pay for it. it's about time. i'm actually surprised it took them this long.

Freedom

There are still and will always be lots aways to avoid detection and play on the outsides of a secure and monitored net. Rules like this only apply to the masses that do not want to bother learning how to bend or break those rules.

First the internet was a free forum for ideas and communication.

Then the internet became a free forum for pornography

Finally the internet became a free forum for advertising

The next logical step is for the internet to become a premium access for ideas, communication, pornography, and advertising. But it'll really just be "pay-to-see-adverts".
