Cool little article that opens an interesting can of worms... what will a classroom look like in 10 years... or 20, 30, even 40 years... I am not brave enough to post my ideas on the site where better and more knowledgeable minds than mine will be sharing their ideas but I have a few listed below.

I think the TouchWall demo by Gates would be a useful replacement for the black board and will still serve a function in the classroom environment... I think books, paper, etc will be replaced with the next generation of tablets that are in commercial use now... so the environment could resemble the one in Serenity at the opening or similar to those described in Ender's Game where the tablets are almost always with the students and serve as multi-purpose tools (gaming, research, information display, communication, etc)....

The slightly good news:
To at least some degree public education's standards are on the rise. At the preschool where my gf teaches, the students have to know a great deal to be able to get in to kindergarten, read, write, count and so forth, I remember being able to do those, but that is why kindergarten was boring for me and my cousin, (since that was what was being taught in said class for us, that is) our mothers taught these things as part of their own regimen. My point is, that someday we will almost approach a quarter of the asian school standards.
