Liquidprism wrote:After his dealings with the market square. Imoak truly felt the oppression of the stone walls. He had never liked this place. He his instinctual disdain for such places, coupled with the clear insanity he had witnessed here, came together. After a night of drinking to wash the taste of blood, and the memory of his recent fight away, he had come to a decision.

In the morning he awoke packed his things, and wrote a short note for his companions. It read:

I am going to stay at that place you don't wished named out loud. Doubtless I will see some of you there soon, but I thought you should know where I was. I have grown tired of this city, and am leaving.

I'm sure you will hear rumors of the incident in the market place. I left a dagger with this note. It is a piece of the puzzle of that event. I don't know, and don't care what you do with it, but if you find the one that threw it, you will probably find the instigator of the massacre.

Anyway, I'm off now. See you around. You know where you can find me, but unless there is a pressing reason to do so... and I mean a REALLY pressing reason, I will never set foot inside these walls again.

Imoak.

PS: I'm taking the cats...

On his way out of the city he handed the note to one of the kobolds, along with the knife he had taken from the ground in the market square, and told it to see the message delivered to his comrades. It was important, and they would want to see it.

With that Imoak Stormdrinker walked out of the city of Arturia feeling a refreshing sense of freedom as he walked, 30 cats around his heels, and following him. it was nice to feel appreciated, even if they were just cats. He noticed, and wandered through the festival taking place at the time, and enjoyed the wild abandon with which the people played. Perhaps there was some hope for the city, but not much.

Imoak began the long trek to the Arcanopteryx. He probably could have been teleported there, but he liked the journey, and it had been some time since he had just gotten to wander. It took him some time, but eventually he arrived, and was happy to finally be in a place he could relax. Also, he was pretty sure there was someone or someone's waiting for him, and he found he was actually looking forward to seeing them. They at least might appreciate having him around, even if they were a bit strange.

He also marveled at the changes to the architecture, and wondered at the magic at work in such a place. This he decided was as good of a home, away from home as he would ever have.
::On the third day of his trek, three dozen cats in tow, Imoak encounters perhaps one of the most bizarre events in his travels yet. As he wakes on the third day, all the cats are arrayed in a strange pattern, facing him expectantly. Once he is conscious and on his feet, the cats, in perfect unison, let out an ear shattering yowl, which grows in volume approaching the unbearable. This goes on for several moments, which seem like an eternity, and then focus of their yowl, an intersection a few feet in front of Imoak, begins to ripple and contort, and then suddenly a mystical portal of some kind forms; two stone pillars, each about nine feet tall and a foot across, connected by an ornate archway, and wreathed in ivy. Between them a swirling vortex resolves into a crystal clear image of...some other place, Imoak can see plenty of trees, flowers, plants, lots of odd structures. His mind registers the spirit of one of his cats leaving its body, and its body consumed in the incantation, leaving him with a loyal following of 35 cats. The cats maintain their divine yowl until Imoak either enters the portal, or turns away.::

Imoak looks, at the portal, and then the strange felines with some trepidation. The sudden magical outpouring, couple with their yowling, sets his nerves on edge. He vaguely remembered saying something to the great cat spirit, about watching these small creatures, and decided his course. If they wanted him to go with them somewhere he supposed it couldn't hurt to do so.

The promise of adventure, and challenge ultimately swayed his decision, and after packing up his bags he set out. Before stepping through the gatewat he gave one last look in the direction of the arcanoptryx, and sighed. His meeting there would have to wait. With that last thought he stepped through the gateway.

::After some hours of research, you come to the conclusion that you have no reason to believe that either the fundamental weapons or anything else can give a mortal the strength or power to slay a deity. The only actual information about anybody ever doing anything that resembles slaying a deity with a single ability, who was not themselves a deity of sufficient power or a warrior of epic proportion, is the Deicide spell that the zodiac gods used in their ascension. Xeromonius made some notes on what he knew of it, which are spartan and reserved in suppositions, and of more use to someone with the ability to cast arcane spells and both knowledge arcane and spellcraft scores at epic levels. You do, however, learn about suppositions by the Green Star Adepts that certain "outsider materials" may be able to do harm to gods. Of rather curious importance to Xeromonius was, however, the source of Godly power. He discovered that, rather intuitively, an important proportion of the divinity of a god depended on the worship that that god received, but that the worship must be defined. In this sense, you infer, the cosmic beings that formed the realms aren't gods at all in the strictest sense, but rather were beings of inherent power. Nor are the Zodiac gods deities in the most strict definitions, as part of their power comes from unconventional sources. You come to the conclusion that the only "conventional deities" in all the realm are Xenon, The Weaver, Bulwark, Respirion, and Tonacatecuhtli, and that last one is certainly debatable.::

Rachnar continues to look up various subjects:

Any info the library can give on:
1. the nature of fundamental weapon (specifically war), what kind of power they contain, and how to gain that power
2. Deicide spell (mainly to give the info to steven)
3. green star adepts, how to get "outsider materials", how to craft them as well
4. how to get defined worship for the party
5. more info on how the "gods" especially Xenon got to be gods, and also how to contact Xenon
6. Anything that might be learned about specific fighters that defeated a god/zodiac god

1. the nature of fundamental weapon (specifically war), what kind of power they contain, and how to gain that power

There is no literature over the fundamental weapons. If you want information about one in specific, you should describe your efforts more thoroughly.

2. Deicide spell (mainly to give the info to steven)

You already got this.

3. green star adepts, how to get "outsider materials", how to craft them as well

Xeromonius was intrigued by the green star adepts, but as they have little to no central organization, rather a common set of understandings and knowledges, there was little actual documentation. They did believe that their Starmetal, the mineral they use to become living constructs, was from outside the realms, and "not subject to its laws," therefore providing the potential for an ability to damage the undamageable.

4. how to get defined worship for the party

Defined worship is "defined" by the domain that a god has control over. Currently all the domains are controlled by gods. For example, Xenon and Bulwark have the Artifice domain, therefore when objects most relevant to either of them are made, this is considered worship.

5. more info on how the "gods" especially Xenon got to be gods, and also how to contact Xenon

Such stories aren't contained in modern canon, except in the religious works of those specific gods. A cult of Xenon might have texts that illuminate his origins, but the objectivity of such works was clearly below the standards that Xeromonius set for himself.

6. Anything that might be learned about specific fighters that defeated a god/zodiac god

Xeromonius made little if any research along these lines. Actual Zodiac gods have not been destroyed since their ascension, but demigods have been, and were slain by warriors of greater martial prowess.

1. My the libary contact notations on what kind of qualities the orginal cosmic enity of war possessed. Info could be listed under another concepts like destruction. Rachnar looks up info along those lines.

2. Is there a specific plane where starmetal might be gotten, or another sourse of the material? If there is anyway to locate greenstar adepts listed in the book that would also be good.

3. Where are cults of Xenon located? (I would not limit my search to the library)

4. Do I have anyway of contacting Xenon directly?

...what?

You are able to determine that, because it's an "outsider metal" it doesn't occur naturally in any plane, but the so called "green star", a comet, does come through the prime material plane from time to time and sheds meteors of the material, which is sought after by the green star adepts. The adepts themselves have no organization and wander the world seeking out starmetal.

3. Where are cults of Xenon located? (I would not limit my search to the library)

Cults of Xenon are rare, and are usually located within large cities whose principal cultural focus is on crafting magical items. "not limiting your search to the library" is unfortunately also vague and doesn't indicate anything about what you are actually doing.

4. Do I have anyway of contacting Xenon directly?

You're a druid. You can try offering a prayer, using knowledge: religion, or think back to the last time you went into the vision state. Certain divine spells allow communication with deities, look into those.

Jason, this is incredibly metagame, and I'd like to see some more actual RP involved in these investigations. Also, since when is your character an academic? This seems like an awful lot of research, and it doesn't make much sense to me. Also, I'd rather you describe more about your looking and what you're looking for, as opposed to more bulleted lists. I'm not doing another bulleted list. The online aspect of the game is intended to encourage quality RP, and an outline of questions you want answers for, which is admittedly better than some possibilities, is however, decidedly NOT quality RP. It would be great if you good bring it up a notch, no offense, it's just a bit annoying and doesn't read like an RPG.

I do not see any rp in the library due to the lack of able things there are to interact with. I ask to see if books are on a subject and they either appear or do not. I cut to the format of posting to make stuff easier for me to read.

as far as being an academic i am not exactly, but I have a lot of knowledge nature, spellcraft along with all the crafting feats and full divine caster levels. I know stuff is out there, i know we have a big resource to use, therefore I would use it.

Look, I understand that you're having difficulty concepting an RP interaction in a library. Look to other players research posts for examples, to give you an idea of how to write introspective RP.

Rachar leaves the library with the info he obtained likely more confused than he started.

::Big sister and Little Sister finish their work. Big sister reviews it and starts laying out on the table, annotating the scrolls with reference information, and preparing the cases that the scrolls will be filed into the library with, and Little sister takes her son to the bottom floor and plays with him.::

It probably occurs to Imoak that the Fey Realm of Fruit and Flowers is an extremely pleasant place to be, and should he desire to ever relax, even for a day, that returning would be desirable.::

Imoak having recently rested can see know reason not to continue his previous journey. So, after getting his bearings he marches toward the last known whereabouts of the Arcanoptryx.

OOC: Are the cats still around? If so Imoak will neither encourage their presence nor try to deny it. They would be impartially accepted, and nothing more.

::The cats, apparently already appraised of what went on in the realm, seem divided. A few of them have already left, though most of them will continue to follow you. You have 27 cats left, though they keep some distance from you and are no longer "thrilled" to be under your uncaring care.::

Upon arriving at the large magical castle, Imoak can't help but notice at least some of the changes it has undergone. Several ideas flit through his mind, but nothing concrete takes hold at this time. The young warrior is happy to have come to the end of his recent journey, and steps inside with a casual air. Imoak finds himself wondering what had become of the elemental, and the child inside her.
