I'm currently playing mass effect and psychonauts when I have the time. I already played mass effect through, but I barely scraped the surface.
ME was very good, like jade empire or knights of the old republic, but more polished and without the taint of lucasarts. It was closest to jade empire.
Psychonauts, recommended by Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation fame, is a trippy 3d platform puzzle game.
I noticed a game on steam I plan to get sometime soon entitled "space giraffe" which calls itself a 'trance shooter'. I really don't care what it is, I need to play a game called "space giraffe" or I won't feel complete when I die.

I just bought my brother mass effect. Apparently he is beating it pretty well.

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

I've got "The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena" downloading now. This game includes a re-textured, updated version of the previous game, Escape from Butcher Bay, which I intend to play first as it takes place before dark athena in the timeline.
This game(s) is somewhat unique in that it is canon for the Riddick universe, features the voice and likeness of vin diesel, and doesn't suck. It's also out on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, I think. Any one else playing it?

Mostly done with DoW2 (one last mission). It was pretty good, decent replay value since there are multiple difficulties to play on, and different scores to beat, etc. The skirmish mode is interesting and a lot less complex/difficult to set up than in the previous one, but I've never been that big on that type of play, at least not without other people I know to play against.
Only major complaint is that you can't go through the story mode with other races, as that would have been really nice. Secondary complaint would be the force selection for Eldar is a bit limited, especially in the aspect warriors, and the upgrades aren't as detailed as in the previous game.
Overall, the game was dumbed down a bit, not sure if that's good or bad..
If anyone wants to skirmish, and has the game, I'm up for it. Or if they want to buy my copy I'm up for that too, though I'm not sure how that works, since steam bonds it to your account (another minor irritation btw).

I hope to waste my summer playing games. WoW, numerous XBox 360 games including UFC, Street Fighter IV, Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant, uhm, Resident Evil 5, and others i cannot remember, DS games like FF Tactics Advanced 2, and various card games and crap with the kids. I had to think a lot this last year. Need my dumb time.
Might be down for a simple online rp like DnD 2nd ed or good old Vampire: The Masquerade. Nothing I have to learn the rules for. Damn GURPS...

I've finally gotten to play Star Wars Unleash the Force. It has a few glitches, and the camera angles are weird. Also, the plot line has to many similarities with the original trilogy for my taste. That said however, the gameplay is awesome. The stuff you get to do with the Force is badass. The first time I took out a TIE Fighter with a guy I had force gripped, the game had me sold. Plus its always fun to fight Rancors in hand to hand combat.

brutes was kind of neat, for a while. it gets really boring after a while though. in that mindless, repetitive, do the same thing over and over kind of way.

This looks interesting and fast. If they really aren't remaking any major parts of the game system, a pro company can probably crank this out in the timeline they're working on, and make it good. This'll be Fallout3: 2, electric boogaloo.
FAllout 4 has been "announced that it WILL be announced at some point, but not now"

so, I would highly recommend "The Path" to anyone looking to experience a new level of video games as art.
Call of Cthulhu managed to get in my head, I found it very well done, haven't gotten too far into it yet but it is one for playing in the dark.
Section 8 is...a shooter with a couple twists. It's got more customization and options than many other games of its type, and it does have the magnificient option to be a guy in a power armor inside another power armor.
Bioshock was....sublime? It was very good, and I'm looking forward to the sequel. I'm glad I got it for cheap because it was short, I finished it on my first play after the install.
Neverwinter Nights 2 is rather awesome. I'd actually like to get more advice on it, and if anyone else's computer has the chops for it (though it isn't *that* demanding) I'd recommend picking it up, and we can play the campaign cooperatives. It has its differences from canon 3.5, but most of those differences seem to be due to integrating it into a video game that operates close to real time. You can pause and issue commands and change things, but other than that the combat will flow through rounds with or without your making decisions. The game seems to feature a robust item creation system. Domains for clerics no longer provide a domain slot, instead they offer a variable number of spells either earlier than normal or from another list or both, for example the Fire domain provides the Fireball spell to your cleric spell list at spell level 3, as normal for wizards. Also, some domains provide various class features, bonus feats, or extras. The Fire domain provides Resistance Fire 5. My current cleric has the Air and Water domains, which in addition to some neat spells provide him with Uncanny Dodge and Evasion, and those started at first level. Spellcasting is tweaked, you have fewer spells per day than you should, it seems to me, however, spells and all 'per day' abilities refresh if you take a rest actions, which requires that your area of the map is free of enemies and you haven't "exterted" yourself in a few moments, then the rest action starts and it takes 5 seconds, after completion of which you and your whole party will have refreshed their hitpoints to max, debuffed any spells, restored all spells per day, refreshed class features and abilities, such as turning attempts or barbarian rage, and so on. It seems like a compromise with not having a "camp" function in the game, and allows the game to be a bit more gamey. Also, NWN2 is set up to allow players to design their own modules and host them in a variety of ways, including that of a persistent world which can be available 24/7 and freely accessible to all, or restricted in a variety of ways, and so there's a bit of an MMO feel to some of the features, including the rest mechanic. online play would not facilitate doing nothing for 8 hours of in game time, while other groups are out doing other things. The official campaign includes an influence system not unlike kotor II which allows you to change the alignments and habits of your NPC companions. Also, your choices affect you, and you can cause yourself to shift alignments through your choices, so you can fall from paladinhood if you do it just wrong.
I would be really excited to play nwn2 with someone or some people, I have so far found the game to be stellar and a good representation of 3.5, with sufficient feats, races, and classes to allow people to twink out if desired, but in a limited way. It seems strictly forgotten realms, I can't say I've seen very much from other books, though Warlock from complete arcane is available as a starting class. A bunch of level adjust races are available, which, you know, is pointless. The expansion packs retroactively upgrade the original game, so with mask of the betrayer level cap is raised to 30, and some new races, feats, classes, and prestige classes are included. I'm still working on getting into the tool set; it's supposed to be fairly complex, and allow you to host a game as the dm and directly interact with things. meh, there's also supposed to be a fantastic host of player made modules available.
