i'm contemplating getting a kindle... is that better or worse than "book" do you think?

For what I'm looking for, Book has superior performance. Also, its collectable, while you only need one Kindle.

Read-to-Me

With the new text-to-speech feature, Kindle can read every newspaper, magazine, blog and book out loud to you, unless the book is disabled by the rights holder. Were GPS to be integrated into such a package, the Hitchhiker's Guide joke, would only barely be one.

However, as I post this, it occurs to me, that a great number of conversations, which lead to friendships and more, started, with a question, or questions, related to what the person was reading, with rusty, it was the feng shui book he was sporting, as he was trying to start a campaign, plus his father would be in town soon, and woud run a small game as well, which I participated in, mostly because I recognized the cover art and had played it previously at dragon con in atlanta. Not that we wouldn't be as close of friends, since we were in the same german I class, but the grounds on which a friendship begins can set the tone for a number of years. And for a while, the technology is new and exciting, so if I see someone with a kindle, whether I know them or not, I ask them questions about it, and what they are reading, which sounds like I just contradicted myself. However, when ipods were new, I did the same thing, but wouldn't dare to do so in the current state of things, I would be taken for an ignoramous, and such an attitude will surely be the result once this type of technology has become more commonplace. My third girlfriend ever, Jessica Bauman, rather over acheiving and all but snooty, asked me out and to the prom, our first conversation started about me reading The Naked Communist. That said, the coolness totally overwhelms me and I would only be in a position to sacrifice this social contact, because I have so much already. I suppose my true worry lies in current youths, which sounds like something an old man would say, "this new fangled technology is going to corrupt the very fiber of society".

So far today, I have not made a single vocal sound other than "Hmmm". It is nearly 1pm as I type this, and I've been at work since 9am. :P

Edit: This is actually relevant because my throat has been sore since I woke up yesterday. I had a killer headache last night and doped myself up with NyQuil in order to sleep. We'll see how I end up feeling tonight. If I get too much worse I may have to call off the game, unfortunately. We shall seeeeeee.

I don't think this should be a concern. Music is different than books. While it is weird to say "hey what you listening to?" it is seldom wierd to say "hey, what you reading" as long as you sorta kinda know someone. Though i suppose it will be a bit harder to use it as an intro since you can't see the cover... but you seldom can see the cover anyway.

I threw back some DayQuil before work this morning and forgot to take cough drops with me, which I regretted a bit, but less than I expected. I didn't get a headache tonight, unlike last night, which was a nightmare. So maybe I'm getting better? Tomorrow will be a better indicator, I think. Bedtime now.

Thedailyshow.com currently has an interveiw with John Cramer. This is a big deal because it helps cement John Stewart as a legitimate Journalist, and The Daily Show as powerful media critic.
