What is the point of these articles...are they supposed to be funny or what? I just don't get them. I know several girls that wear blue jeans, and dresses as well. Go to a college campus, and walk around you see both women in blue jeans, and women wearing other things. No matter what they are wearing it is hard to begin to clump their general emotional state and the 'point' of the clothing they are wearing into groups of similar behavior, based on those clothes.
Jeans don't mean low self estem, or 'Hey, I'm gay", they are popular because they are easy. Seriously, I've actually talked to girls that wear jeans about this. Honestly these articles read like sexist propaganda wrapped behind big words. It actually reminds me of something Temples step dad might espouse, except he wouldn't say it so pretty.
And whats with the banker conspiracy theory? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

why must you hurt us cheyne.... this drivel is on par with an episode of American Dad, an attempt at being funny that fails... I feel sad that a supposed person with a PhD wrote that first article when it was nothing but on guys whim to see all women dress according to his preference and made up reasons that sounded like they support that point of view... it would be like me writing an article saying the same things about hair length.... it is well known I think long hair looks more attractive on women but to say that influences their life, represents their sexual character, etc would be bad comedy... the feminist article could have been written by anyone with half a brain a bit of wit and a sense of humor... in fact a comedian could have done better (more wit and humor)... the rebuttal was nothing special since the original article = epic fail

All this time, I just thought jeans were nice because the wind in Az is usually 30+ mph and I didn't want to reinact Marilyn Monrowesque scenes...now I know the truth! I am a closeted lesbian with massive gender identity issues and it's all a conspiracy of THE MAN. Damn the Man, where the hell is Undercover Brother when I need him!

i just found out i'm gay because, despite being male, i haven't let denim touch my gentle flesh in over a decade. Thank you Dr. Makow for letting me know the truth.

josh:
no, the first one isn't a joke, but most people, even real conservatives, likely take it that way. the guy is a nut. And the second article is just a flippant response to it from feministe, a feminist website.

thael:
i thought it was both hilarious, and sad. but it goes to show that education doesn't mean shit without a mind open enough to accept it.
