John leaves his haven and walks around the block. He picks up a newspaper at the corner. It is entirely uneventful, and then he goes home.

::John returns home from his uneventful walk to a very eventful homecoming. Things happen. He finds, as he sits to read his newspaper, that his stock portfolio is in deep trouble. Then, as he is reeling from his unfortunate discovery, he sees a roach crawling across the table. Damned place must be infested. Oh, and then there is the spirit that has taken up residence with him. ::

John rolls up the newspaper and attacks the cockroach. "Damned things!" What had he done to deserve this?
