Uintah had surgery. Went fine. I am watching a documentary about sumo. Reading a DS9 relaunch book. Interesting. Nog is Cheif Engineer. Ro is head of security. Good stuff.

odd. are they going to ever do anything for a new trek series, or are they waiting to see how the new movie does before they do anything else?

and i was going to ask about her surgery today actually. wtf was it for? i didn't even know she had physical problems?

Bad knees. They figured there would be some scoping involved, but it was clean in there. they removed some tissue that didsn't belong (weird) and did a lateral release. She has had bad knees for years, but really bad the last six months or so. No real significant injuries to them, just weirdness. Should be getting the other knee done soon.

Trek... Shatner proposed the awesomeness of having a Starfleet Academy series following cadets through their schooling. New Mutants/90210. They passed. There is some talk to looking into revitalizing the franchise if and when the movie does well. Sad though. Many of the people working behind the scenes had worked continously on the franchise since Next Gen. Going to be difficult to reassemble those teams that made the shows so damn good. I think though that many are resigned to the fact that it is over. Hence the new relaunch in the books taking place after the Dominion War. Picard and Janeway are fighting new borg threats, DS9 is further exploring the Gamma Quadrant and Bajor is now part of the Fed. Tattoo face is captain of Voyager in the Delta Quadrant. I hear Janeway was assimilated/killed off. Peter David was responsible. He's not one to off characters (stupid Betty Ross deserved it though). With the Enterprise show being such a let down, I can't imagine people being excited about a new series. Enterprise got great in Seasons 3 and 4, but it was too late. The first two seasons forgot to have drama, history, and interesting stories. Some of the characters were good, but only a couple were great. The last episode was the worst finale ever. Ever!

youll have to show me enterprise sometime. i heard so much bad stuff about it i just ignored it. and i hate prequels anyway. they always irritate me. i like history. in books. text format. not dramatized. dry, with a bit of cheese perhaps.

is acadamy going to be prequel or future? if the series progresses i'm all for it, but i'm soooo fucking sick of history fill ins.

really, it seems like franchises don't like making changes to thier sacred cows. batman, star trek, star wars, whatever. don't change what makes you money. don't create a timeline w/ a possible ending, just create an eternal now. fuckers.

Until and perhaps even with the idea of Enterprise, I think the Trek franchise kept itself going by mixing things up just enough to make the new stuff unique. they new they weren't going to top TNG with another ship soaring around the quadrant looking for adventure, so they placed the story within a space station with access to a whole new side of the galaxy (which they hardly explored). With Voyager, they tossed them out far from home to make the discovers and journey as exciting as it was with the others shows. Enterprise had potential. Great cast, interesting characters, Scott FuckingBakula. But damn. No interest in suspense, drama, or storytelling for two seasons. By the time the show got on track and began building the history many of us wanted, they had lost too many. The last season was beautiful. They fought Nazis and everything, Had a flashback/forward ep that tied in with both ther mirror universe and a TOS ep. Great. Remember how TNG had those great intro teasers? Like Troy would wake up and she was the only one on the ship? Or the one where the Enterprise exploded in the first two minutes? None of that in Enterprise. One ep, the captain talked to his dog and took a shower. Roll intro music (which most people hated). WTF? He didn't even pleasure himself!

The Academy show was to be set in modern/future. Like after Dominion War. Rick Berman didn't like the idea. He's an ass. Hopefully, the new movie generates more love. I like the people involved. Shit man. Simon Pegg is Scotty! Sylar is Spock! But I dunno. Seems sad but lame to me to go back to the beginning. Dipping back in the well. I would rather see Cloverfield II: Son of Clover.

Sorry for inactivity. Not feeling well and taking care of crippled person. Have a job interview at dhs tomorrow. Had a teacher interview in Mustang the other day. didn't realize until I got there that it was for junior high... little bastards. Since I popped that cherry though, think I might apply for the other junior highs around me, including my son's school.

lol. middle school badness. you can do it.

and i figured you were probably busy.

i read comics today. i speed read through as much as i can before the book store closes once every week or two. xmen isn't bad right now. not exactly happy w/the direction (why is scott trying to kill moonstar, magma, and crew btw?) but overall i am stil happy w/it, as they are actually doing plot things, and following up on history. blessed, glorious history. wolverine origins even had an old issue in it w/the first appearance of deadpool, old xforce, gideon the xternal, and stuffses.

That reprint of Deadpool's first appearance makes no sense unless they plan to bring back the immortals, which they don't. So it made no sense. But good times.

X-Men is great right now. I like the move to San Francisco. Needed move, like back when they relocated to Australia. X-Men Legacy is beautiful. Best art in a regular X book in a long time and finally some history.

Secret Invasion is already boring me. Final Crisis is confusing me. Seems Morrison is ignoring some lead-in books (JLA not aware gods are dying, even though they witnessed the event). Batman, also written by Morrison, is really confusing but potentially great and needed shake-up in his book. Maritan Manhunter was killed. Fans outraged. I don't care and never really liked him.

Initiative and Thunderbolts are both great and both getting new creative teams, which may make them ungreat. Weadon finally killed Kitty. Jason is a Skrull. x-Force good and full of old villans. Young X-Men makes no sense. None at all. I also hate the art. Always did in their books. Did you read Claremont's Genext thing? Hated the art. Couldn't get past it. I can't take any book seriously that looks like that. That modern trend in books that reminds me of modern cartoons. Everything is shiny and cartoony. Best I can describe it. I don't like shiny. Shade something, dammit. No one is that well lit.

Do you think Gideon has fallen into his gf's vagina?

probably.

and i agree on the art. manga/anime. i hate what it did to our beautiful comics.

legacy is rocking. gambit is back to being gambit after nearly a decade. coolness.

and the xmen 2 shot w/the where-are-they-now stuff was cool. havok escaped his imprisonment, beast went back to do mansion cleanup, etc. lots of goodness there.

can you repost that link to the gov site for jobs? i really need to apply.

martian manhunter used to be a favorite, but they make him suck, and like everything else, they ignore plot development (he became immune to fire, and was vulnerable to psychic "fire" (intense emotions) in a book, and then they totally ignored it).

skrull thing was building up cool, then bleh. and it looks like some books are already back to normal... wtf?! huge build and then nothin...

The big events aren't having much payoff in books. Sure, House of M really changed the tone of the x-books (gradually though) but not much else. WW Hulk was a huge disappointment. I mean damn. It started soooooo good. Civil War, however, really broke the mold. Been a long time since an event changed so much. Like since Onslaught, ugh.

Apply for jobs. I am interviewing for the Social Services Specialist I position at the DHS near the capital tomorrow.
