It occurred to me yesterday at coffee that we don't really hang much, outside of games, anymore. We've been on such a tight schedule that we haven't done much. I was kind of hoping we could get together Friday evening, hang out, maybe have some food, whatever. If Mike is up for it maybe go hang out with him in his backyard (he has a fire pit for food, and a lot of room), if not maybe go back to my place and hang (wii, boardgames, or just chatting over beverages). Nothing special really, just something to do with each other that isn't gaming, you know?

Anyway, comment if your schedule is open. I've talked to several people, but haven't been able to get a hold of everyone on the phone. Feel free to suggest specific activities, as I don't have anything very specific in mind (movies would be ok, but there isn't much coming out, though I could probably watch Kick Ass again).

Ok, so a tentative plan has emerged for the afternoon, in which people will go into the outside, consume food picnic style at a park or lake, perhaps even barbecuing said food. Balls and frisbees will be available. Sunscreen will be slathered on pale people by the women (some of whom will themselves be slathered).

That evening, we will do things as well, though the exact nature of said things is still being determined. Help in this area is appreciated... I had thought about seeing a movie, but honestly not much is out that I want to see that I haven't seen. Food might be in order later in the evening, but not too early since we already will be doing the picnic-ish food. Movies at a house/apartment are viable, but only if there is something really cool to watch (think themed activity). Board games for a brief period might be fun, but I personally don't want to do that all night. Any place to go that is cheap/free and also mildly entertaining?

I've got some interest in seeing Kick Ass, but if people generally don't want to go out to a movie, I'm content to wait until its out on DVD and/or go see it solo.

If we want to watch something in-house, I have an option available in the form of an anime movie called Summer Wars. Its a movie oriented at all audiences and 'feels' a bit like a Miyazaki movie, if you're familiar with those (Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, etc). It's won a number of awards in Japan for this year. Its a contemporary flick that has some fairly high-level social commentary embedded into it. Its around 2 hours, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Here's a link to slightly more info, if you care (and I know most of you do not).

I'm fine with that. I wouldn't mind something that people have mostly seen before and can heckle/cheer/ooh&aaah at in addition.

People that are coming should bring a beverage of choice, in the 2-liter variety.

Hefner park, 2pm. People can meet at my place before hand for greater convenience and car pooling, or they can show up there (some people have work and stuff).

Steven, are you coming into the light? Or do you have schools that day? You know you want free food, and to play with peoples, and breath air... it's supposed to be cool that day too.

Adam? You can bring Gunther, and he can fetch/eat our frisbees...

I thought I was posting this??? You lie Cheyne.. you're a liar.

I am bringing charcoal, plates, plastic ware, cups, napkins, and ICE I believe. I may also get a frisbee. I spelled ICE because it is an acronym, but I haven't figured out what it says yet.

I will not be going to any movies, if that is happening. I really cant spend any money at all. I may be up for Steven's anime. I will have to look into its content. If there isn't any magic, or fighting, or mecha, I probably won't care.

I have class until 3:30, and may or may not have homework that needs finishing up before I can leave Norman (I am trying to get it done on Thursday).

The anime has some fighting in a virtual reality. It has other awesome aside from that.

It looks like I will be going to Tulsa after work. I would have liked to go, but car repair and the gun range call.
