New Mummy Movie!
Everyone should see this movie...the high-light is when two of the chinese army villians attack the characters after a bomb hits and destroys the jeep they are riding in. It was hilarious, cause right after that they die by being crushed in between some wood roller things. One could have survived but she decided to be a hero and just hold on to the other as he was crushed (WTF). I couldn't make this stuff up if I...oh wait, yes I could.
Anyway, the ending is pretty lame as a nearly invincible shape changing, elemental wizard named JET FRICKEN LI is taken down in hand-to-hand combat by our lug of a hero and his son (it wasn't even Michelle Yeoh or Russell Wong who got the kill). Even for the Mummy series this one pushed the envelope on what I am willing to accept from an action adventure movie. I'm sorry but the heroes just don't stand a chance they're to...I don't know...mortal.
Also, I miss Rachael Weisz, I thought she and Brendan Fraiser had better chemistry. I like Maria Bello (I think that's her name) as an actress, but she was a poor replacement in this instance.
I did like the Yetis (Yeties...Yetiis), it was fun watching them maul people, oh and Jet Li does alot of collateral damage, which is always nice. He should have super powers in all his movies, they would all benefit in every possible way. He should also always win... even if he loses.
Its an over the top blastfest, with most of the elements of the originals, so if you liked them you should at least enjoy this. That is all.

mel gibson could beat brendon frasier. riggs could beat lame-ass mummy slayer (actually the same goes for glover/murtaugh). So, it follows that the lethal duo could beat the mummy, and they've already proven themselves against jet li. i say that the mummy 4 needs to be about gibson/glover pounding the shit out of brendan frasier and his kid, who became mummies after their shitty 3rd movie.
and jet li can do the dvd commentary.

Unfortunately for Riggs, Rick O'Connell is a bit more dramatised and epic than the gritty Cop. That means his stats are better. So I'm gonna have to disagree with you here.
The Lethal Weapon movies are just to rooted in real world rules, the Mummy series is very high action and super powered. The heroes are required to be that much better than a typical action character, just to survive. They jump higher, run longer, and punch harder, plus their aim is unnaturally good. These are the guys that routinely suspend believability. Riggs (and Murtaugh) are unfortunantely still written as nothing more than really tough cops.
Sure Riggs is a good shot...for a normal guy. Sure he can run down a car on foot, but he needs to take short cuts to do it. The point I'm making is that the two types of heroes we're looking at are for two diffrent types of action movies, and the more epic heroes are gonna win the fight every time.
As impossible as it is watching the O'Connells deal with supers. I would dread watching the Lethal Weapon gang try to cope with such a thing.
This point should hold true across the board. Epic action characters trump the more gritty ones, because the stats are better.

Again, I have to disagree. The Mummy heroes are alot of fun to watch on screen. What are our criteria for claaing them bad, because we could go back and forth all day what constiitutes a 'good', character and a 'bad' one.
I think in the end it really does come down to scale. You can't say Riggs wins, because his character is better. Thats just to subjective a statement. My arguement s based on the scale of the story the heroes are a part of, and the level of skill/power they each need to make it through a day in their respective world.

not going to argue this. i think it can be argued, and successfuly, but i don't want to spend the 4 pages it would require, so i will state that i hate the mummy heroes, think they are lame, and are shown as badasses for no particular reason and beat cool characters with their random skills. you like them, i don't. that is as far as i will take it.

I am just tired of hearing Brandon Fraser scream. I like hearing Danny Glover scream. He gets too old for shit.
The fact that I've seen the Mummy I and II many times and don't remember Fraser's character's name tells me that I don 't care about him. He has no real backstory and isn't very deep. He needs a dog. That would make him cool. He does take a good beating though. I give him a C+.
I have no desire to see the new film and am arguing with the mother of my children about it. Would rather see Pineapple Express. Or a superhero movie if they are still out in a couple of weeks. Hell, I'd rather see Dark Knight again. Batman could beat up Brandon Fraser and Jet Li.
