Tower Goals

Post by rydi »

Hello all. As we move into a new section of the game, I wanted everyone to take a moment to contemplate their goals as we move forward. This reflection serves multiple purposes: defining a course of action, creating greater understanding among group members, creating a meaningful roleplaying experience, and allowing me to focus my efforts as I attempt to prepare quality content. I would like everyone to spend a few moments to write answers (a few sentences at most please, no novels) to the following questions. For the multiple choice questions, you can just copy the original post and delete/re-organize entries as appropriate if that is easier.

1) What Plotlines would you like to explore in order of preference from most to least interest (name at least three)? These include, but are not limited to
a. Mysteries of the Tower (e.g. origin, purpose, functions, hidden secrets, uncovering patterns)
b. Exploring the Grey Knights (e.g. history, researching previous members)
c. Forming the Lost Knights (e.g. recruitment efforts, transitioning the guild identity/name, assuming leadership, forging alliances with other guilds)
d. Hunt and Kill mission (the ongoing, recently revealed, special tower reward mission to hunt and destroy specific constructs)
e. Guild conflict (e.g. conflict over the tesseract with the Elder Mythos Cultists, power conflict with the Alliance and Arcanists)
f. The road home (e.g. finding info on how to get back home, obtaining artifacts capable of getting you home)
g. Cosmic Questions (e.g. the nature of the universe, fundamental questions of the multiverse, participating meaningfully in cosmic issues)
h. Conquering the Tower (e.g. defeating key levels, obtaining achievements, building a personal reputation, forging wonders)
i. Saving others (e.g. helping other denizens of the tower, finding lost explorers)
j. Building a new life (e.g. developing personal hobbies, dating, interior decorating)
k. Exploring individual NPC's and forwarding their goals (e.g. helping basic dwarf obtain inner peace, helping Sakura become a dream dragon)
l. Other (please explain)

2) What aspects of character advancement do you most want to pursue, in order of preference from most to least interest? These include, but are not limited to:
a. Temple completion and attribute gain (e.g. strength temple, charisma temple, etc.)
b. Item building (e.g. creating superior items using forges, shrines, tower guardians, fusion, bonding, legacy founding, etc.)
c. Mythic apotheosis
d. Rapid level gain and build completion
e. Self-transformation and evolution (e.g. template acquisition, racial mods through tower points, virtue shrines, reincarnation, etc.)
f. Unique Benefits (e.g. special lore, powers, and items that exist outside the standard scope of the rules)
g. Other (please explain)

3) What NPC's do you find most interesting and wish to further interact with, in no particular order (but you only get to pick 3)
a. Pearl (leader of the Grey Knights, your guild leader, really this is the first NPC you met so if you don't remember her it kind of bothers me)
b. Sakura (she's been traveling with you for a dozen floors and constantly reminds you that DRAGONS ROCK! How could you not remember her?)
c. The Darkest Elf (a high elf adolescent... You might have forgotten him as he was brooding in the corner)
d. Broseph (You might have forgotten him, since he spends a lot of time lifting... Do you even lift brah?)
e. Overpowered Wanderer Guy (an early member of the grey knights, he gave you cool stuff and saved you from a dragon)
d. Djedi of Clan Unicorn (This alliance member loves Desna and saved you from slayers on your first run-in with them)
e. Basic Dwarf (he just wants to find inner peace and purge himself of his crippling anger issues)
f. Venn (technic league member, snobbishly avoids anyone from a pre-modern tech level)
g. Pebble and Boulder (halfling and dwarf partners from the undermountain society)
e. Asshole Sphinx (Pedantic guardian of the tower's secret lore, likes doors and riddles, always right, really needs to get home to take care of his cubs)
f. Mithral Fist (Vigilante/monk you saved from enslavement to a thrallherd; totally better than Danny Rand)
g. Chard (Dwarf from the slayer's guild that you saved from the thrallherd; just wants to rock out, owes you a solid)
h. Space ox-lizard (You healed the rift between him and his best friend, but he can still make time for you... barely)
i. Other (who is amazing enough to deserve your attention?)

4) What major plot NPC's and/or Villains do you most want to interact with further? Just pick two.
a. The Coven (the three witches you stole the tesseract from)
b. Haliban (head lich of the arcane society)
c. Rune (supposed steward of the tower)
d. The Voice (sure you killed the thrallherd, but he's a psionic critter)
e. Other (who am I forgetting?)

5) What do you find most compelling (from an in-game perspective) about your experience in the tower?

6) Tell me something interesting or useful regarding the game or your characters?

Kind of in order of interest:
1) Plots
a. Tower - I want to understand the endlessssneeesssssss
i. Saving others - mentioned before, I want to use the wayfinder (I think that is the name) artifact to find lost people, places and things
h. Conquer the tower - all the winning

2) Advancement
c. Mythic - have never explored mythic anything in any game, so it would be cool
e. Self-transformation - reincarnation was neat and I'd like to continue with changes of that sort

3) NPCs
e. Wanderer Guy - mostly because I have info about his old comrades in my head and an artifact that might let me find them
d2. Djedi - because we need to create a magically alliance of fairy-butterfly avatar people (go desna)
e2. asshole sphynx - because he might know more stuff on the tower, and is amusing

4) Villians
c. Rune - moar knowledge
d. The Voice - dude was a jerk and I want to make sure he is deaded to death

5) The multi-faceted nature of the game interests me the most. I am trying to find my way home, but also trying to make this place better, but also also trying to kill all the evil, loot-bearing things for their loot

6) I probably don't really want to go home any more. I am powerful, and getting moreso, which I totally like, and have no idea how much time has passed in our world. Sheer stubbornness requires I keep trying, but if a portal to home opened...it remains to be seen if I would actually walk through.

If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

1) What Plotlines would you like to explore
f. The road home – To get back to my kids.
i. Saving others – Always a priority
e. Guild conflict – Part of saving others
d. Hunt and Kill mission – Sounds interesting plus tower points
c. Forming the Lost Knights – More political clout means we can get more done
I would like to find out more about that wayfinder

2) What aspects of character advancement do you most want to pursue
Rapid level gain and build completion
Temple completion and attribute gain – specifically strength and charisma
Item building - Specifically my new super sword

3) What NPC's do you find most interesting and wish to further interact with
I’ve really only interacted with Sakura and a little with Broseph and Pearl.

4) What major plot NPC's and/or Villains do you most want to interact with further
a. The Coven – If only to stop the attacks on our guild
c. Rune – Probably a good way to get back home

5) What do you find most compelling (from an in-game perspective) about your experience in the tower?
Having people from different realities in the tower.

6) Tell me something interesting or useful regarding the game or your characters?
If my kids were in the tower with me and Niki, I would probably stay here to help people.

1) Plots
D. Hunt and kill mission; curious to see what is going on with that
E. Guild Conflict; having non tower confilct is new and interesting
C. Forming Lost Knights and J. Building a new life; to me seem to go well with each other.
H. Conquering the Tower; more power gained from the tower is always nice

2) Character advancement
A. Temples; I would like to have the vulture and the cloud subdomain to complete the air domain.
E. Self-transformation; not that much interested in magic items besides the staple items
F. Unique Benefits; I like random powers
C. Mythic; not sure what I would pick

3) NPCs
A. Pearl; we should interact with her more before trying to take the guild over.
B. Sakura; she is a fun npc
E. Overpowered Wanderer Guy; Interested to see his history and current plans

4) Villains
A. Coven; they should want that tesseract back
C. Rune; just want to see what the steward does
B. Haliban; liches always want more power and we got power

5) In-game perspective
I do enjoy seeing various cultures/eras mixing together. I would like to see more high tech areas.

6)Interesting and/or Useful stuff
I do like my tabletop strategy game. But that said going forward and trying to achieve goals beside just killing and looting monster would be entertaining as well

f. The road home (e.g. finding info on how to get back home, obtaining artifacts capable of getting you home)

5) What do you find most compelling (from an in-game perspective) about your experience in the tower?
The 'us, but not us' take on it is interesting. While we are probably not totally well-representing our own actions in this foreign and unreal environment, the effort is entertaining.

6) Tell me something interesting or useful regarding the game or your characters?
Despite constant life-threatening danger and actually dying at least once, I'm mostly okay with staying in the Tower as long as my friends are here. What I do to help them has a tangible effect. The changes we're all going through in terms of personal power are interesting to observe and also make me hunger for more. I am beginning to see that I will probably never be "strong enough" to satisfy my own need for safety in the Tower, but the ever-mounting need for power (both to fuel our adventures and to overcome greater challenges on more difficult floors) drives me to constantly want more. Manifest acts of a semi-divine nature (including my own resurrection) are starting to cause me to call into question my atheism, if only for practical reasons.

1.) Plotlines
F. The road home
H. Conquering the Tower
A. Mysteries of the Tower
2.) Character Advancement - I'm not really sure about this section I play for RP not Leveling...
A. Temple completion
F. Unique Benefits
D. Rapid level gain
3.) NPC's
Sakura is the only one I've met yet, she's cool enough.
4.) NPC's & Villans
C. Rune
A. Coven - although I'm still too new to know if we can take them on.
5.) I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when saving people that couldn't save themselves. I am intrigued by the complexity of the situation.
6.) I find the break from life refreshing, but I have a need to return to my kids. I can play along for awhile, but eventually, that need will become overwhelming. FYI as of school starting again in August I won't be able to play on Sunday nights past 10 pm.
I'm really good at what I do... I just struggle with getting started.

1) What Plotlines would you like to explore in order of preference from most to least interest (name at least three)? These include, but are not limited to
f. Unique Benefits (e.g. special lore, powers, and items that exist outside the standard scope of the rules)
My Main interest here is getting mythic. This is a big deal for us to progress in power.

c. Forming the Lost Knights (e.g. recruitment efforts, transitioning the guild identity/name, assuming leadership, forging alliances with other guilds)
I want us to gain control of the faction mostly for resource management. We got a lot of NPCs that are running around without our level of power and organizing them will help with that.

d. Hunt and Kill mission (the ongoing, recently revealed, special tower reward mission to hunt and destroy specific constructs)
More levels and more tower points are where we are going to gain the most benefit

j. Building a new life (e.g. developing personal hobbies, dating, interior decorating)
I think as the only person who isn't keen to leave the tower I would settle in and try to form a live. Though dating wouldn't be as big of a deal as it would be outside of the tower at lest till i reincarnate.

2) What aspects of character advancement do you most want to pursue, in order of preference from most to least interest? These include, but are not limited to:
a. Temple completion and attribute gain (e.g. strength temple, charisma temple, etc.)
I would like to get all the shrines done. They are a static bonus that improves everyone.

b. Item building (e.g. creating superior items using forges, shrines, tower guardians, fusion, bonding, legacy founding, etc.)
I want to maximize the utility of Steven and us my craft feat as quickly as possible. The items also will need to be bonded.

d. Rapid level gain and build completion
I want power and levels are a direct path to power. So on the way to getting shrines and killing targets I think taking out whole floors is the best investment of time while we are stuck in the tower]/b]

3) What NPC's do you find most interesting and wish to further interact with, in no particular order (but you only get to pick 3)

b. Sakura (she's been traveling with you for a dozen floors and constantly reminds you that DRAGONS ROCK! How could you not remember her?)
e. Overpowered Wanderer Guy (an early member of the grey knights, he gave you cool stuff and saved you from a dragon)

4) What major plot NPC's and/or Villains do you most want to interact with further? Just pick two.

c. Rune (supposed steward of the tower)

[5) What do you find most compelling (from an in-game perspective) about your experience in the tower?
I would think there a compelling level of war time like bonding that has happened. As a unit we are more tribal and more socialistic. This is one of my favorite parts of the tower and one thing that would be a compelling reason to stay. Think about how much faith you put in each other every time you die and assume you will resurrected by each other.

6) Tell me something interesting or useful regarding the game or your characters?
I don't think we can actually get it out of the tower. I just think we will end up taking it over.

1) What Plotlines would you like to explore in order of preference from most to least interest (name at least three)? These include, but are not limited to
a. Mysteries of the Tower / Cosmic Questions - as the GM I know these are linked, and am interested in both
c. Forming the Lost Knights - this seems fun, both in terms of story and the mechanical aspects of managing a guild
h. Conquering the Tower - I want to win!
f. The road home - in game this is very meaningful to me, out of game this provides an interesting story backdrop but isn't something I want to achieve except for a visit

2) What aspects of character advancement do you most want to pursue, in order of preference from most to least interest? These include, but are not limited to:
a. Temple completion and attribute gain - I want to finish the transforming into whatever we become when we finish all the temples
b. Item building - want to create special legacy items keyed to the various characters
c. Mythic apotheosis - I want to explore the individualized character options for everyone

3) What NPC's do you find most interesting and wish to further interact with, in no particular order (but you only get to pick 3)
b. Sakura
d. Broseph

f. Mithral Fist

4) What major plot NPC's and/or Villains do you most want to interact with further? Just pick two.
a. The Coven (the three witches you stole the tesseract from)
c. Rune (supposed steward of the tower)

5) What do you find most compelling (from an in-game perspective) about your experience in the tower?
Becoming something beyond mortal human, uncovering cosmic lore, and conquering the tower as a group rather than through individual force

6) Tell me something interesting or useful regarding the game or your characters?
I am going to forge an 80's cartoon deus ex machina artifact from our various items, it will be epic.
