Characters
Please post characters here. Post your role on the ship first, followed by backstory, then character stats you don't mind sharing (it makes a nice backup character sheet.
Players should have two characters, a high powered character, and a low powered character. Make a separate entry for each character.
Character creation is somewhat freeform. I care more about characters that can interact appropriately with the story than I do about specific dots. Just try and stick to themes, roles, and the basic requirements for your character type. So, make sure you've at least spent the points for a starting character of your chosen type, be able to perform the role you've chose, and make sure you don't overpower the character for the "low power" role. Also, if you choose an exceptionally high-powered character, make sure you have reason for not blowing up our game (amnesia, rusty and out of practice, vow of non-violence, etc.), though you will get to "cut loose" eventually.
Characters can be created using any of the following templates:
High Powered - Solar, Infernal, Abyssal, Lunar, Nova/Aberrant, Sidereal
Low Powered - Daredevil, Dragonblood, Alchemical, Sidereal (starting char only), Dragon King, Mountain Folk, Alien (using modified Aberrant rules), Chromatic, Qin, Psion, Psiad

Re: Characters
Low-Power Character
Cathak Hikari, the Runaway Heiress
Background: An heiress of the wide-spread Cathak Corporation, Hikari was brought up with the foreknowledge that her hand would be used to seal alliances with other Dragonblooded trading clans. Something of a wild child after her exaltation, Hikari was put into stricter and stricter boarding schools in vain attempts to reign in her behavior. This ultimately proved to be unsuccessful. Always in motion, much of Hikari's unsuppressable energy was channeled into dancing and the martial arts.
Shortly after graduation and with marriage looming, Hikari left a note and fled home for the Frontier, determined to see some of the galaxy and have a good time before returning home to what has felt like an inevitable and, frankly, boring fate. She took passenger liners further and further from the Core Worlds, and hired smaller transports as they became available. Nexus was only her most recent destination and has proved to be more unpleasant than she had hoped.

High-Power Character
Joren Cenik, the Butcher of Gethamane, the Secret Inscribed in Blood
Originally a doctor, Joren Cenik lived a quiet life in the underground cities of the frigid world of Gethamane. This was interrupted when their small city was raided by mysterious attackers with a small army of the walking dead. Though the attackers were repelled, Joren's family was killed. Forced to watch their murders and rescued from torture shortly before his own death, Joren's mind broke. Though outwardly alright, Joren became more and more convinced that the people around him were flawed. Eventually his psychosis elevated to the extent that he began to incapacitate and eventually kill his patients with deeper and more invasive investigations. Intelligent and resourceful, he was able to conceal his actions for months before he was caught.
Tried and sentenced to exile in deep space, Joren was packed into a capsule with minimal provisions and fired toward Yozi space. Months of isolation further warped his psyche, a process further exacerbated by his landing on a Yozi-dominated world. Experimented on and eventually Exalted, he was returned to the Frontier to serve the fel purpose of the Yozis.
However, Joren's acquisition of the Yozi's own power has again warped his behavior with their transhuman influence, as has his infusion with the memories of the ancient Solar Exalt who most previously possessed his warped exaltation.

Lower-Tier Jezial the Space Gypsy
Name: Jezial
Race: Szoreelli
Type: Psion
Backstory: Jezial’s people are a planetless race that travel the Known and unknown World, seeking fortune, new frontiers, and connection to other races. Jezial has travelled the known galaxy for a few centuries, has been a wanderer, diplomat and unparalleled navigator. During an excursion near the edge of the Known Words, she fell under attack from raiders. Jezial had been setting her ship to self-destruct when she was rescued by another ship, on which she met Challx, and she feels a kinship/indebtedness to the insect-warrior. When the opportunity to travel toward the edges of the Known World became available, she signed up immediately.
Jezial is a blue-skinned woman who looks human aside from her coloring. Her race prefers loose clothing and no armor. She generally has a somewhat vacant expression, as her psy abilities keep her distracted often.

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

Higher-Tier Carl: The Revealing Eye of Truth
Nearly a millennia ago, The Revealing Eye of Truth laid waste to countless enemies in the Malfean war. His crafting and sorcerous abilities allowed him to create a weapon of near limitless power. In his pride and arrogance, The Revealing Eye of Truth landed a mighty blow to the forces of darkness...and the ripple-effect of the attack demolished several inhabited planets. Including the one on which his family was stationed. Devastated at the loss of his family, and the outcry against another Solar who seemed to devolve into insanity, Carl left his title and life behind. Drifting around the Known World, occasionally joining with ships and crews...

Re: Characters
Lokk
Motivation: Do the right thing, and be awesome doing it. Push the limits of what he can do, and always strive for something better.
Ship role: Lokk was granted passage as a deck hand. He quickly grew into something more though. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot he isn't good at. He is smart, and quick witted. He excels at understanding and exploiting situations for the betterment of those he calls friend. He comes across as confident and fearless, but whether good or bad is hard to tell.
Story: Lokk is quiet about his history. He will talk about it though when asked. He gets sad when he does this. He lived in a utopian civilization. His people were want for nothing, there technology affording them a life of peace, and luxury. They pursued science, art, and philosophy casually and frequently as there was little else too life but to think. He sees the nativity of it now. Just before the imperial campaign of genocide which left him with nothing, his race made the discovery that they had been engineered. Knowledge from this discovery revealed they were supposed to embody a more perfect humanity. They never had a chance to find out why. Lokk is not so sure the Empires arrival, coupled with this discovery was meer coincidence.
Lokk is not shy about his dislike of imperial practices or society, especially their military. If he had his way he would remove their heirarchy completely, and make drastic changes to the organizational structure of the whole. He has proven to be somewhat reckless in his pursuit of justice, when the Epire is involved. He cannot stand to see its agents force their will on others.
Apart from this dark part of his mind, he is very outgoing and friendly. He likes games, socializing, and contests of both mental and physical prowess. He can get very intense when he is keyed up in the moment, but is always a good sport.
He is very well suited to nearly anything. It is remarkable how easily he adapts and learns new concepts, and integrates new data into his paradigm. His view point is often very alien though, and is without the same biases as those characters raised in Imperial space. There is also some measure of niavity, as there are givens for Imerial citizens and more socialized beings he simply is unaware of.
Relationships: Due to his outgoing nature Lokk can get along with nearly anyone. He does have a hard time with pessimism and those that can't seem to take action, or stifle creativity. He is also a relatively 'good person' and as such will not abide blatantly evil acts. As far as the crew goes there are multiple points by which he may touch the other characters lives and goals.
::: I'm not going to write up stats here. Sorry.:::

Kaishin, the Burning Heart
Deva of the Third Circle
Second Soul of the Secret Inscribed In Blood
Whatever the exact details might be, Kaishin always appears to be a well-muscled and topless man. In the center of his bare chest he lacks skin and bone, these and whatever organs might have been present have been replaced by a cavity which houses a flaming human heart. The heart beats as one might expect a living heart to do, though it does not appear to be connected to the rest of the deva's anatomy.
Kaishin is a lot of things his progenitor is not. He's hot-headed, he's brave, he's a lover and a fighter. He likes people - mortals, gods, Exalts, elementals, demons, whatever. If they can have a good time, he can have a good time with them. He's hard not to get along with. When things go south, he's the first to jump to the defense of those that cannot defend themselves. He's willing to forgive and forget rather than hold a grudge; he's quite good at turning enemies into friends.
Mystics that know anything about Kaishin and his progenitor have many theories regarding what it is, exactly, that Kaishin externalizes. He could be the spark of Solar heroism that still resides within the Lifemaker's Exalted soul or the embodiment of opposites; a form of spiritual balancing. Could it be that Kaishin represents an ideal that the former doctor strives to become? None can say for certain.
Kaishin has unique powers; I don't know what they are yet. When I do, they will be described here.
Motivation: To encourage and embody honorable behavior

Angstrom, the Professor Clad in White
Second Circle Deva
Indulgent Soul of the Burning Heart
Good news, everyone! I've invented self-wielding daiklaves that are also cheese graters! There is a short pause as he grates cheese against the flat of a daiklave blade, and then hurriedly ducks a swing which chops the remaining block of cheese in half. Deeeeeelicious!
One of the souls spawned by the Burning Heart is a scientist. That is to say, he practices SCIENCE! The Professor Clad in White appears to be an old northern man with a highly domed, bald head, aquiline nose, and wrinkled skin. He wears spectacles thicker than a typical man's finger and always, ALWAYS wears an ankle-length white coat. The particular brand of science he engages in is typically both useless and extremely dangerous for bystanders. What his inventions lack in utility they make up in sheer quantity, the Professor is always working on something and the volatile results of his labors have started to spread across the face of Creation, ending up in the bazaars of Nexus and being shipped out to Coral and Chiaroscuro. Only about one in five is actually fatal to bystanders, though the Professor maintains that "Those idiots just aren't using it right."

Fenea, With Sails Unfurled
Second Circle Deva
Expressive Soul of the Burning Heart
Always on the move, Fenea captains her ship Winds of Change across the breadth and length of Creation's face. The ship itself reconfigures for whatever mode of travel is necessary - space, deep water, rivers, or even over land (if it must) - but primarily exists as a large cargo freighter. She'll ship just about anything anywhere, though she will not deal in slaves. The trade is really a means to an end, though. It helps turn a profit, pay her crew (who are mostly mortals), and some part of her knows it helps reinforce Creation's integrity. Her real goal is to see the world, though, and she's young enough that she's hardly seen any of it at all. A beautiful young woman with auburn hair and a slender figure, the features that most distinguishes her from humanity are her long, daggered ears. She's gripped by a wanderlust that is unlikely to be quenched any time soon and has a notable problem with staying any one place longer than a day or two.

Aine, the Frozen Maiden
Second Circle Deva
Wisdom Soul of the Burning Heart
Appearing as a pale woman with white hair and eyes, Aine emits an aura of cold around her and frosts the ground she walks upon. Calm, logical, and cool, Aine is never as riled up as her progenitor tends to be. She offers sage council when asked but otherwise pursues her own agendas in a detached and rational manner. Of the Secret Inscribed in Blood's many souls, she is the one that perhaps inherited the most influence from his original patron, the Principle of Hierarchy, though she does not doggedly adhere to any formal system as the Whispering Flame does.

Radan, the Living Fortress
Second Circle Deva
Warden Soul of the Burning Heart
Armed and armored, Radan stands more than ten feet tall. None have ever seen his face, hidden perpetually behind his great helm's faceplate. Inside Joren's inner world, he takes this form along with that of a large well-fortified castle atop a tall hill. Outside of that world, he always appears in humanoid form (and is unable to exist as a literal fortress in Creation anyhow). Radan is largely impassive to events around him; he will act when the situation requires action, he will speak when spoken to, he will follow or issue orders with equal ease. If nothing is required of him, and events around him don't concern him, he is content to stand as a silent sentry - some might even mistake him for a statue.

Senesals, the Blood Elementals
First Circle Devas
Prodigies of the the Professor Clad in White
The Blood Elementals have the upper body of a human - man, woman, or child - tinted with a crimson hue. Below the waist their body fades into a less distinct mass of liquid blood. These creatures are capable of manipulating blood, generated either by themselves or by others, to create solid items or weapons. The more blood there is in their area, the more versatile they become. They also possess a limited ability to heal - or at least prevent wounds from becoming any worse.
