D&D: FF - Team stuff?

Post by rydi »

Anyone have any combined encounters/stories/posts they wanted to work on?

Post them here if so. We can discuss brief ideas and then start them in a separate vignettes thread or something.

GMs note: Several of the Teamwork feats have good and beneficial abilities, and some of them provide for tactical choices normally unavailable. Though these feats usually do not warrant inclusion in a build, particularly because they are required of all the people who use them and other people must have the same ones for there to be actual benefit. Take a look at the teamwork feats in the APG, and if you want one, then go on an adventure with your friends which in cinematic description relates the feat and its use. As I said before, group stuff can give you these feats as freebies. Consult with me about this if you are going to do it, so that we can both be on the same page.

I think it highly appropriate that Dalla and Aine have continued contact during the 100 year period, particularly given that both will likely be based out of the same city. Aine will, after ensuring that the school is running, take a brief leave to visit her parents and family to catch them up on what's been happening to their daughter, but will otherwise probably spend most of the time in the city with only brief excursions to other cities or planes.

The only thing I can possibly think of right now, that would cause Imoak to spend any time with the other characters, is a jaunt to other planes of existence. He would be interested in exploring several of those given the chance. He is always looking for new and exciting ways to fight, and learn more about the nature of battle. So I'm not sure which characters have access to planeshift, but if any do he would probably petition them for a chance to explore. I guess just post here if you have the means, and desire to do this. I will start thinking of story.

Having spent many of his last decades in constant struggle, Imoak decided it was time to take a respite. He had watched an ideal blossom, and become something more. He himself felt more alive than ever. So with a sense of pride in his work in the world, the barbarian journeyed back to the second place he had ever thought of as home. The Arcanopteryx hovered in its solemn way, just as he remembered it.

Here he visited with his family, and caught up on the doings of his son, and Little Sister. Little had changed since his last visit save that the boy had grown fully, and was more knowledgeable of the world. He had also spent much time with the tribe of Imoak’s birth, and was able to regale Imoak with the current affairs of the people there. Little Sister was as inviting as always, and seemed proud at the growth of her child. Now busy with his own affairs the boy didn’t stay long, as he too had just stopped in for a short rest. Thus, it was fortuitous that Imoak had come home at that time.

As Imoak had hoped, his tribe mate Ratchnar still spent much of his time in the tower. The druid labored in the forges, building amazing treasures. Ratchnar also spent his days pouring through books in the tower’s library. The druid seemed obsessed on finding some way to transform himself, and gain power with which to fight the gods. While Imoak cared little for his tribe mate’s obsession, it was good to see him. The goliath felt like perhaps of all his companions Rachnar would be he most open to what he had accomplished.

As Imoak examined several of the items lying about the forge he talked with his brother at length. As the days drew on he tried to coax Ratchnar away from his labors, and eventually managed to peak his interest. The two gathered some of the more potent items Ratchnar had made, and packed for adventure. Before leaving, Imoak said his goodbyes to Little Sister, and his son. It had been nice to visit them. With that the two tribesmen took off into the world.

At first Imoak traveled around showing Ratchnar the fruits of his labor. They went to visit many of the fight cults, which now thrived. Imoak explained how the cults had grown from stories of his own deeds. He explained how individuals striving to better themselves through martial spirit, and tests of strength had seen a truth in the path he walked. From this had sprung a brotherhood of sorts. The goliath told his kinsman about the time when civilization had gripped the cults and threaten to destroy their meaning with gold, and entertainment. Imoak also told of his retribution.

His goal was to show Ratchnar that through dedication, and resolve a being could become something more. One didn’t need stolen magic, miracles, or rituals. All one needed to do was believe they could change, and they would. It was this concept he tried to impress upon his brother.

As they journeyed, the two spoke about their lives before, and how things had changed. They knew they were heading toward a dangerous storm brewing on the horizon. Between them they discovered a desire to see other worlds. They both sought things that defied normal understanding. They both wanted more than they had found in this world. Each, in his own way, wanted to explore alternate routes, and pathways. Perhaps, they decided, it was time to go elsewhere for a time.

With their minds made up the two went to the one place they knew help could be found. They traveled to the city of Aturia where Dalla, and Aine held vast mystical power, and could hopefully open a doorway to another world. Imoak was hesitant about returning, he despised the city, and had hoped to never return. His purpose however was more important than his loathing.

Once there the two petitioned each of their comrades to journey with them, or at least grant them the means to explore alternate places. For Imoaks part he was excited at the potential to test himself against another world. Perhaps out there, he could find a worthy teacher to show him to the next level. Perhaps out, beyond the confines of this world he could find answers to the questions within his heart, about the nature of strength.
